MELTING PROCESS
Two melting furnaces, Gautschi type.
They are equipped with oil burners
and supplying the holding furnace with liquid metal.
Melting Process
The furnace's load is made of various solid raw material (aluminum, magnesium, copper ...)
The goal of the melting process is to transform various solid raw materials of various shapes (ingots, tablets ...) into liquid aluminum alloys.
Several operations are performed in the following order:
OPERATIONS
LOADING OF THE RAW MATERIAL
Raw materials are introduced in the furnace in a specific order to help the transformation of the solid state to the liquid state.
For example, pure aluminum is introduced first.
Loaded materials are mixed to help dissolve material together, to homogenize the temperature and composition of the load inside the furnace
STIRRING
Loaded materials are mixed to help dissolve material together, to homogenize the temperature and composition of the load inside the furnace.
SKIMMING
Material may contain oxides or impurities.
The skimming operation is to remove dirt from this liquid bath.
CHEMICAL ADJUSTMENTS
Once operations are performed, a sample is made and analyzed.
We are verifying the rate of each chemical element (copper, silicon, etc.) of the alloy with the required grid of chemical composition. According to this first results we can adjust the concentration of the melt charge.
